Collaboration: An Essential Element of Life

"Collaboration is the essence of life. The wind, bees, and flowers work together to spread the pollen."

--Amit Ray--

We won't always agree on how to do something, when to do it, or why it's essential. We don't all possess the same talents, interests, or desires. We don't all have the same types or levels of experience. We don't all have the same background, training, or frame of reference. So, when we collaborate—share our knowledge, skills, and abilities—working together without ego and control, we typically accomplish more and attain more positive outcomes.

However, collaboration focuses on more than merely connecting and interacting to achieve business or personal success. Collaboration is empowering—it can change our attitudes and mindsets so we see each other more clearly and understand each other better. Through collaboration, we build positive relationships—regarding, connecting, and interacting respectfully, kindly, compassionately, and graciously—this is the significance of collaboration. Collaboration is one of the most powerful tools humans have in our arsenal to drive society's standards, change, and sustain the world.

Yet, fear steps in times of struggle, lack, or challenges. And we often take a protective stance, thinking we are preserving our assets and ourselves. We forget that the things we accomplished and all we have were not acquired in a vacuum or without support/help/contribution from others. "We didn't build it alone; we can't preserve it alone!"

Collaboration should be a significant pillar—an essential element in our life journey.

"We can see that all the desirable experiences that we cherish or aspire to attain are dependent upon cooperation and interaction with other sentient beings."

-- Dalai Lama--
